Complete Decongestive Physiotherapy ("CDP") / Manual Lymph Drainage ("MLD") Treatment Options for Lymphedema Patients in New England

This information was compiled by the Greater Boston Lymphedema Network in June 2003 and is not necessarily complete. Nonetheless, this is the latest list of therapists as of 23-Mar-2006. Please send requests for corrections to the webmaster using this contact form.

Because the choice of therapist is so important, each lymphedema patient is advised to check the credentials and training of their therapists. There are not yet any official training standards for CDP/MLD in the USA. However, the National Lymphedema Network (NLN) advises on its website (www.lymphnet.org): "We feel that a minimum of 80 hours of instruction is desirable and that above 120 hours is ideal."

Other Resources for People with Lymphedema

We recently discovered a shoe store dedicated to making wide shoes since 1951. The store is officially for men, but if comfort is more important than style, even women are likely to find something suitable. They can mail you a catalog, or you can visit their warehouse store in Hingham, Mass. Apparently this is the only such store in the US, so we are very lucky to have it in the Boston area.
